New Post Primary School in Portlaoise

Information Evening / Oíche Eolais 

Beidh oíche eolais do thuismitheoirí / caomhnóirí daltaí bliain 1 2017 – 2018 ar siúl ar an 26ú Aibreán  ag 7.30 sa scoil ar Sráid an Iarnróid. Ar an oíche tugfar eolas faoin scoilbhliain nua, rogha ábhar, eide scoile srl. Tá súil againn sibh a fheiceáil ansin.

Do dhaltaí a chonaíonn breis  is 4.8km ón scoil, ba chóir iarratas a sheoladh chuig Bus Éireann faoin scéim iompar scoile roimh an 28ú den mhí seo.

An information evening will be held for parents of incoming first years (2017 – 2018) at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 26th in the school building on Railway Street.

On the evening information will be provided on the new school year, curriculum, uniforms etc. We hope to meet you all then.

Pupils who live more than 4.8km from the school should apply to Bus Éireann for the school transport scheme by the 28th of this month.

Dunamase College - Coláiste Dhún Másc 

 

UPDATE 16th march 2017 
Information Meeting in stradbally: Wednesday March 22nd @ 7.30pm

The new post primary school, due to open in Portlaoise in September 2017, will be called Dunamase College, Coláiste Dhún Másc. LOETB will be the Patron for the school, combined with a partnership agreement with An Forus Pátrúnachta.

Dunamase College will be an English-medium, co-educational, and multi-belief school and will also include an Aonad Lán-Gaeilge, that is, a unit to cater for students who wish to have teaching instruction as Gaeilge.

The school will have temporary accommodation on Railway Street in a fully refurbished building that once was home to the vocational school.

Ms Aoife Elster has been appointed as Principal and will commence her post on on Monday 20th. March.  Ms Elster can be contacted by email: principal@dunamasecollege.ie.

Offers of school places for the coming year will be confirmed during the week of March 20th. 2017

An information meeting for parents interested in hearing more about Dunamase College – Coláiste Dhún Másc, will take place in the Laois Art House Stradbally, Co Laois,  on Wednesday 22nd. March at 7.30pm.

A Principal for the school will be appointed in the very near future.

 

An information meeting for parents interested in hearing more about Dunamase College – Coláiste Dhún Másc will take place in the Railway Street building on Thursday 16 February at 7.30pm.

 

 

Update 19th December 2016

The post of Principal for the new school has been advertised, with a closing date for receipt of applications of 6th January 2017. Interviews for short-listed candidates are likely to take place in mid-January.

Thank you to those who have taken the time to complete the Expression of Interest form; your details will be passed to the new Principal on appointment. A formal enrolment process will commence in February 2017.

Portlaoise Youth Education Centre, Railway Street (the former Vocational School building) has been chosen as the temporary accommodation for the new school. A tender process is currently underway for Architectural Consultancy Services to manage the refurbishment of the building for use as a post-primary school.

LOETB and An Foras Pátrúnachta are currently preparing a submission for the Dept. of Education and Skills on the required level of resources for the new school.

The Dept. of Education and Skills are currently identifying suitable sites for the building of a  permanent school building.

It is  planned to hold an information session for parents in early 2017. Parents/Guardians who have completed an expression of interest form will be contacted directly by LOETB.  Details to follow.
